5KPlayer

There is so much to like about 5KPlayer: it can play 4K and 5K videos; it provides support for lots of video formats and lots of music formats; it provides support for DVDs; it comes with a built-in online radio player; it provides support for Apple’s AirPlay so you can stream and mirror media; it helps you keep your media collection organized; it can even convert videos from one format to another.

5KPlayer is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system and for Apple’s Mac OS X. Getting it up and running on a PC or a Mac is an effortless task that will take little of your time. Once you get it up and running, you can use it for free for as long as you want. That’s right, this media player is freeware!

Two buttons are presented at the top on 5KPlayer’s dark interface:
5KPlayer – from here you can load and play a video, play a DVD, play some music, listen to an online radio station, and access instructions on how to use AirPlay.
Library – from here you can manage your favorite movies and music; you can also manage your movies and music playlists.

When you click the X Close button on 5KPlayer’s interface, the media player will not close, it will minimize to the system tray. This default behavior can be changed from the Settings menu. From this menu you can play with a few other options: set it so 5KPlayer stays on top, set it so 5KPlayer opens at login, disable/enable the AirPlay service, pick a custom color for the subtitles text, and more.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a better media player. 5KPlayer looks great, it supports of sorts of media files, it is incredibly easy to use, it is free. It’s great!
